Anji Makhachkala and FC Metallurg Ukraine have agreed on terms of 24-year-old halfback of Armenia national team Karlen Mkrtchyan to the Russian side.
Karlen was born in Yerevan, where he began attending legendary football school Pyunika. At the age of 15 he was registered for the club`s youth team, a year later he made his debut for the first string. Within 6 years spent with the club he gained significant achievements – three-time winner of the domestic league, two-time Cup winner and three-time winner of Armenian SuperCup.
Mkrtchyan debuted for the representative team in 2008, scored once vs Lithuania in 26 international appearances.
In 2010 Karlen was announced Armenia`s top player according to football specialists.
The ex-club of our newcomer is Metallurg Ukraine, together with that team Karlen managed to progress to the Ukrainian Cup final in 2011/2012 season. He was repeatedly acknowledged top player of the month according to the team`s fans, in 2012/2013 season he was announced the best foreign player of the team.
